Help make a wish come true this Christmas

Christmas Wish Appeal

Tina's story

People like you helped to make Tina's Christmas Wish come true

Last year around this time, one of our patients, Tina, wished for one last Christmas, with a real tree. But it didn’t seem possible. Tina had advanced stage cancer and it wasn’t clear if she’d make it to Christmas Day. Thanks to kind, generous friends of Compton Care like you, we were able to grant Tina’s wish.

Tina was a fun-loving character. She loved bingo, karaoke and scratch cards. And she adored Christmas! Tina had wished for a real Christmas tree all her life so we granted her wish. We always do everything we can to light up the lives of our patients and their families. So, we gave Tina and her family an early Christmas at Compton – on 22 November.

All the family came in matching festive pyjamas and had a lovely day decorating it. They made their own decorations with family photographs. No doubt they will hang them up fondly this year. They also did karaoke, which made Tina so happy. It was really touching to see them all singing together, for what could be the last time. Then there was one more precious moment to come. Tina’s beloved dog Bella was brought in to join the festivities. When she ran up and nuzzled Tina, there wasn’t a dry eye in Compton.

We depend on friends like you to make Christmas wishes, like Tina’s, come true

From granting festive wishes, such as Christmas trees and visits from pets, to providing every aspect of specialist, individual palliative and end of life care; we’re here around the clock, every single day of the year. We always want it to be this way. However, each year, it costs more than £10 million to provide our exemplary compassionate care. Most of our income comes from kind-hearted friends of Compton like you. In a climate of rising costs and stretched budgets, we need your donations more than ever.

I hope you’ll consider making a Christmas donation today, to help another family like Tina’s, and make their Christmas wish come true.

As we make plans for Christmas, Tina’s family are preparing for their first Christmas without her. Tina’s daughter Natalie takes great comfort in her memories of her mum’s final days at Compton, surrounded by the family she loved.

We’re already thinking about how we can make Christmas wishes come true for our precious patients this year. Please help us make as many come true as possible by making a donation today – thank you.
